Update on the D12 Visa as of December 17, 2025
If you are living in Bali on a D12 visa, this information is extremely important for you. Please read until the end to understand what visa changes now apply to the D12 visa and what you must check right now to avoid overstaying and problems with Indonesian Immigration.
On December 17, 2025, an official update regarding the D12 visa was published on the website of the Indonesian Immigration Office.
This information was communicated to visa agencies working directly with immigration authorities, including our licensed visa agency, Sunrise Visa.
The update concerns the D12 visa, which is a multiple-entry visa with specific rules regarding both the visa validity period and the permitted length of stay.
How the D12 Visa Works
For example, if a D12 visa is issued for 1 year, this means:
  • the visa validity is 1 year;
  • the maximum continuous stay in Indonesia is 180 days.
After these 180 days, you must either:
  • extend your permitted stay (if applicable), or
  • leave Indonesia to reset the stay period and then re-enter.
What Has Changed
Previously, the 180-day stay was counted somewhat “by calendar dates.”
For example, if you entered Indonesia on January 1, the assumed exit date would be July 1.
This procedure has now changed.
The 180 days are counted strictly from the first day of entry, and on the 180th day you are required to leave Indonesia.
This means that if you entered on January 1, the latest permitted exit date is June 29, not July 1.
Why These Changes Were Introduced
These changes were implemented to:

  • eliminate ambiguity in calculating permitted stay periods;
  • standardize immigration data;
  • ensure consistency between immigration systems, ITK records, and passport data.
At this stage, permitted stay periods for D12 visas have already been updated in the immigration system.
