This is due to Indonesia’s immigration rules. However, the D12 visa gives you two convenient options:
1️⃣ Extension.
If you want to stay in Bali for a whole year without leaving, after 180 days you can simply extend your visa and continue living in Indonesia.
2️⃣ Exit and re-enter.
If you don’t want to pay for an extension, you can take a short trip outside Indonesia (for example, there are cheap flights to Malaysia) and come back. In this case, your 180-day count starts again.
With the D12 visa, you can live in Bali for up to 2 years without applying for a new visa.
This is one of the most convenient and cost-effective options for long-term stays.
