INTERNATIONAL DRIVING PERMIT

In some countries, driving with only a national driver’s license may not be permitted. If an IDP is required, driving without one may be considered a violation of local traffic rules.

An International Driving Permit helps you use your right to drive abroad in countries that recognize the 1949 Geneva Convention format.

The IDP contains the driver’s information, permitted vehicle categories, and translations into several languages. This makes it easier to confirm your right to drive and rent a vehicle abroad.

An IDP must be used together with a valid national driver’s license and does not replace it.

An IDP is normally issued based on a valid national driver’s license.

If you do not have a driver’s license, you can choose a package that includes first obtaining an Indonesian driver’s license for:

• one vehicle category;
• two vehicle categories.

After your Indonesian driver’s license is issued, we use it as the basis for obtaining your International Driving Permit.

To apply, you will need:

• a photo or scan of both sides of your valid driver’s license, if you have one;
• a photo of your passport;
• a front-facing photo;
• your height;
• your eye colour;
• your blood type;
• your residential address;
• your driving experience.

If you do not have a driver’s license, our manager will explain which documents are required to obtain an Indonesian driver’s license.

The average processing and delivery time is 7 to 14 days.

The exact time depends on the destination country and the selected delivery method.

The IDP format is based on the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, which has more than 100 participating countries.

Rules for using an International Driving Permit may vary by country. Before travelling, check the requirements of your destination country, rental company, and insurance provider.

An IDP does not replace your national driver’s license. You must carry both documents when driving.

The vehicle categories shown in your IDP must match the categories included in your national driver’s license.

An IDP does not cancel local traffic rules or additional requirements set by rental companies and insurance providers.
